Saul Alvarez vs. Matthew Hatton
After failing to make the agreed catchweight of 150 pounds and paying a fine, Saul Alvarez picks up his first championship in a farcical title bout against Matthew Hatton for the WBC Super Welterweight Championship. Alvarez bloodies Hatton's nose in the second round and cuts him over the left eye in the fourth. Referee Lou Moret docks Alvarez a point for hitting on the break in the seventh, but Alvarez proceeds to batter Hatton around the ring after that. He hurts Hatton in the final seconds of the twelfth, but the bout goes the distance, where Alvarez wins a landslide unanimous decision over his game opponent.
