Re: Rolando Romero vs Jackson Marinez
Prediction,
This is a good step up for Romero, his career hasn't taken off like the other prospects or young champions, but he is a Mayweather promotions fighter, so he should get opportunities. Romero hits very hard, but his chin, stamina, technical skills haven't been tested, he hasn't been past 6 rounds. Marinez is more experienced, has had more fights, has been past 8 rounds 3 times, but he definitely doesn't hit as hard as Romero, has stopped less than half his opponents. Marinez's opposition hasn't been great, his best win was in his sixth fight, he edged Cuardo by a 9 round decision, but he hasn't fought a world title challenger.
Marinez is big for the weight, is tall, seems to have a long reach, and if he can use that, he should give Romero problems, he's defensively good, cuts off the ring, has a good straight right hand, but he doesn't have good punch variety, has slow feet, I think he will land the counter right hand, but I don't think he will hurt Romero, and Romero will back him up not wuth strength but by making Marinez respect his power from the start, I think he's the much offensively better fighter, goes to the body as well. It will be interesting if it goes past 8 rounds, and Romero doesn't dominate the fight, but Marinez has to make Romero work in the early rounds to take advantage of the late rounds, and I don't think he'll do that, because I don't think he has the offensive ability to push Romero in the early rounds, and I think he'll just frustrate Romero by defending well and landing the counter right hand. I've not seen a good jab from Marinez, he seems to throw the lead right hand, which means it will be harder to use his reach and control the distance. I think foot speed will be important, I don't think either of them have fast feet, Romero seems like a fighter who is very dangerous once his opponent is in the pocket, but struggles with movement, but I don't think Marinez uses the ring well enough to keep it on the outside.
I wouldn't be surprised if this went the distance, but I'd be surprised if Marinez won. I think Romero stops Marinez in the mid rounds. I think Marinez will have success, win a couple of rounds by defending well and landing the counter right hand, but Romero will do all the damage, will be the aggressor throughout. I think Romero stops Marinez in 7 or 8 rounds.

Re: Rolando Romero vs Jackson Marinez
Marinez hard done by. He made Rolly look limited and at times pretty clueless. I thought when the 118-110 was announced that at least they had it for the right guy, cause no way could someone find 10 rounds for Rolly. I guess they did though!
Marinez looked the superior boxer for sure, faster and just more fluid and natural. Rolly was loading up with single shots a lot of the time.

You guys all think this was a robbery? Like there's no way you could score 7 to Rolly? Wasn't paying attention to the fight when it was on, maybe I should rewatch but I heard it was low output and not great to watch

Re: Rolando Romero vs Jackson Marinez
Honestly one of the worst scored fights I have ever seen. From what angle ringside could Rolly have won this fight? I can't imagine scoring ten rounds for him. What a shame. Worst scoring I have seen in many years.
