Undefeated WBO Super Middleweight Champion Joe Calzaghe suffers the first knockdown of his career before coming back to stop former titleholder Byron Mitchell in the thirteenth defense of his belt. They slug it out in the opening round, with Mitchell appearing stunned on multiple occasions. Calzaghe starts to unload again in the second but eats a right hand from Mitchell that spins him onto his hands and knees. The champion gets up and is woozy but fights back and sends Mitchell crashing throat first over the ropes with a big left hand. Mitchell beats the count, but Calzaghe stands him up with another hard left. Although he is firing back, Mitchell stumbles into the ropes, and Referee Dave Parris prematurely stops the slugfest.

Calzaghe has a little more pop then many give him credit for (myself included.)

Mitchell was not prepared for Warfare.

Joe Calzaghe could really let his hands go.
