Re: Ray Robinson vs Jake Lamotta VI
Through the first 6 rounds this was a even contest by my eye, LaMotta's concentrated body attack kept him in this fight until the 10th round when Robinson really started pouring the punishment on. It is unbelievable the amount of flush pulverizing shots Jake LaMotta can withstand, punishment no man should be able to endure and remain conscious. A brutal battle for the ages, that sees both men become legends and Sugar Ray Robinson become Middleweight Champion of the World.

Re: Ray Robinson vs Jake Lamotta VI
An exceptionally violent conclusion to their historic hexalogy.
"If the referee had held up another 30 more seconds, Sugar Ray would have collapsed from hitting me."
-Jake LaMotta
People often point out LaMotta's weight advantage in his battles against Robinson, but Robinson certainly did not look like the smaller man in the ring for he was a large natural welterweight. Also while LaMotta's chin deservedly gets the attention, his boxing skills are quite overlooked as a result...for a man with a reputation of taking punches to his face LaMotta probably slipped and rolled punches better than some of today's boxers!
