Prediction,

Good match up.

Peter Quillin is a fighter who has achieved, at one point, seemed like a very good fighter, proved to be a fighter who could punch, but he didn't deliver as much as he could have, it seemed. Quillin did great against N'Dam, scored 6 knockdowns in 12 rounds, which takes some doing, and he won the WBO 160lb title, he defended against Rosado, did well, but after 3 defences, at which point, he was a good fighter, but after 3 defences, he was disappointing against Andy Lee, missed the weight, lost his title, Quillin gassed in the fight, couldn't do much at all in the second half, and the fight was a draw. Since the Lee draw, it hasn't gone well for Quillin, he did win a comeback fight against Michael Zerafa (17-1), knocked him out in 5, but after that, he took on Danny Jacobs, and was stopped in one round, and it took him nearly 2 years to return. Qullin got back to winning ways last year, 11 months ago, at 168, against Dashon Johnson (22-21, but had only been stopped 3 times), boxed to an 8 round UD. Quillin has had one fight at 168, one fight with Virgil Hunter, 11 months is a layoff, we'll see how he gets on in this fight, what he has left at 35, having been knocked out in a round, dropped one his way to a draw, this is a tough fight, tough test, after being active, past his prime, never the most durable fighter, we'll see how this fight goes.

J'Leon Love is good, probably never going to win a world title, but he is a good fighter. Love was a good prospect a few years ago, but he wasn't the most dominant, he made many mistakes, had many flaws as an unbeaten fighter, and after an SD against Rosado, and a knockdown against Periban and took a beating for a short time (he was also knocked down against Rosado), after that, he fought Rogelio Medina, and was knocked out in round 3. Love has been active, gets the wins, and has done well since the Medina loss, but they have all been fights against opposition that is weak at world level, so he is still fighting, is consistent, but this is a real step up, the first time he has fought a good fighter since the Medina fight, so this is a test. Between now and the Medina fight, Love has drawn once, that was against Abraham Han (a stronger opponent than any of his others between Medina and Quillin), on the same card as Quillin vs Johnson, it was a TD, meant to go 10, but went 8, and that was after fighting Dashon Johnson, and stopping him, something Quillin didn't manage to do.

Quillin is probably the favourite, but Love has been much more active, they both fought 11 months ago, but Love has had one fight since then. Both these guys can be hurt, both have been knocked out once, both dropped at least once. Quillin is the puncher in this fight. Love is 4 years younger than Quillin, and he has been more active, that is a not good combination for Quillin. Historically, Quillin is better than Love, has achieved more, has more world level experience, he is the former world champion, but he isn't the same fighter now, Quillin.

It is a tough one to predict, but I'm leaning towards Love. I think Love wins, MD.

Dreadful from Love.

See Love's face when they announced the winner? Hard to believe that he actually thought he won.
