Muhammad Ali vs. Jimmy Young
Fight Notes: An out-of-shape Muhammad Ali escapes with a win against Jimmy Young in a fight surprisingly filled with drama. Young makes life difficult for the Heavyweight Champion by forcing him to make the fight and not falling prey to Ali's early rounds rope-a-dope or ninth round dance routine. Ali comes on strong in the later rounds, battering Young into and through the ropes on several occasions, one of which is ruled a knockdown by Referee Tom Kelly in the twelfth round. In the end, the judges decide Young has not done enough to take the title and award Ali an unpopular unanimous decision. |

Re: Muhammad Ali vs. Jimmy Young
Ali even out of shape is too much for anyone not named Liston, Frazier, Norton or Foreman.

Re: Muhammad Ali vs. Jimmy Young
Round 12 Jimmy Young goes through the ropes referee begins an eight out either for a legal knockdown being helpless outside the ropes or simply a standing eight like the old amateurs. The referee suspends the count at the bell because you could be save by the bell in that round. Hence 10-8 Ali in a round Young was winning midway until Ali exploded. Good stuff.

Re: Muhammad Ali vs. Jimmy Young
Scoring round 12 a 10-8 round gives Ali the draw on my scorecard.
