Prediction,

Not sure if the fact that this is a grudge match is the reason for it happening, but it is a good match up on paper, could potentially be entertaining for a certain amount of time.

Berchelt is very good, world champion, got a couple of good wins, he carries a lot of power, is dangerous, and whilst his resume is already decent, and he has had 35 fights, he is only 26, so if anything, his best years should be ahead of him. Berchelt, in my opinion, is top 30, top 2 in his division. I don't think many fighters in the division can challenge Berchelt, Davis obviously can, I think he beats Berchelt, I think Farmer can challenge him, but I think apart from a couple of others, Berchelt beats everyone at 130 easy.

Roman is good, he has wins over Daniel Ponce De Leon and Orlando Salido, and he is also a dangerous puncher, 47 KOs, he is active, but he is 32, and he must be an old 32, he has been dropped at least 6 times, been knocked out twice, beaten up and knocked out against Miura, who Berchelt beat by a landslide, and he was sparked by DeMarco. Roman has 12 losses, he has been in a lot of wars, and although he has only lost one since 2012, he took punishment against Saldio, a massive amount against Miura, and he has taken a lot of damage in his career.

I think Roman can hurt Berchelt, Berchelt was knocked out by Luis Eduardo Florez, anybody can be knocked out, it might not be about Berchelt not being the most durable, but it might be. If Berchelt was to lose this, it would be a case of him doing himself a disservice, making a mistake, letting his anger get the better of him, mentally, not being professional, and getting caught, but if he is sensible, he should win this, because he hits harder, he is much younger, much fresher, and he is much better than Roman.

I would be surprised if this went past 6 rounds, I think someone is getting knocked out, and it is maybe 98% going to be Roman. I think Berchelt will be cautious for a couple of minutes, but he will catch and hurt Roman late in round 1, maybe drop him, Roman will get up and still be dangerous, but Berchelt will be cautious, hunt him down in round 2, and hurt him again in round 3, Roman might hit him clean and hurt him as he rushes in, and Berchelt will be cautious again in round 4, but Roman will tire, and walk onto a big shot in round 5, Berchelt will build on it, but not get careless, and in round 6, he will sustain a brutal, clinical beating, stop Roman.

I would not be surprised if Berchelt knocked Roman out in round 1.
Roman can knock Berchelt out, but he needs Berchelt to mentally let himself down, make a mistake, whereas Roman can be as good as he is capable of being, but if Berchelt has the right balance mentally, he can't win, and not only that, but he probably can't commit, take any chances without being very vulnerable, without getting countered, and potentially sparked.

Fight of the year!
Awesome fight, an absolute classic!
I was sure Roman was done in round 6, that was incredible how he came back from that, both had been in a draining fight, but late, Roman was struggling to generate the power he can potentially produce, the older fighter wasn't benefiting from the minute as much, and he needed Berchelt not to see a shot coming, he needed to really hurt him, and whilst Berchelt felt those shots, he only really hurt him in round 2, but Berchelt was definitely hurt there.

I think the referee stopped the fight not because those last few shots from Berchelt looked the most damaging, but because for the first time in the fight, Roman was static on the ropes, he looked at the canvas, good stoppage, and before anyone can complain, they have to consider the damage Roman had already taken.

Roman should retire, he's had a good career, he took so much damage in this fight, he is only going to decline, he almost certainly won't retire for a few reasons, but he should.

Berchelt doesn't have the chin Roman does, but he does not have a Gamboa, Khan chin, and he took clean shots in this fight quite well, but I think if he fought Davis, he'd be fighting a faster, more skilled, southpaw fighter in comparison to Roman, who hits even harder, would be a great fight that.
