Luke Campbell vs Darleys Perez
Lightweight contender, potential future world title challenger, Luke Campbell, takes on Colombian fighter, former world champion, Darleys Perez, on the undercard of an incredible fight, Anthony Joshua taking on Wladimir Klitschko at Wembley, which held 90,00 excited fans. Joshua vs Klitschko certainly, did not disappoint, the two warriors traded knockdowns, one was ahead slightly, the other, he found a spectacular finish to possibly the best heavyweight fight the nation had witnessed in years.
Campbell started slowly, being out worked by a game, motivated Perez, who looked like he fancied he could win comfortably, though Campbell didn't really look bad, Perez, not cruising, Campbell had problems, and Perez had taken the lead.
Campbell changed the fight in round 4, as he began to put the punches together, use his defence well, and from that round onwards, Campbell took over.
Perez seemed to have a problem with his arm in round 9, he complained to referee, Steve Gray, but he looked more as if he wanted a way out, knowing he was losing, not seeming to believe he could win another round, against a consistent, sharp, untroubled Luke Campbell, and the referee stopped it, deeming it a TKO win for Campbell, Perez not really complaining about the stoppage.
Campbell boxed well, but it wasn't a fantastic performance, still, more importantly, he spoke with Jorge Linares, WBA world champion in his post fight interview, and they both agreed that a fight was likely to happen between the two of them.
