Champion97's picture

I think this was a very interesting fight, I didn't see this as a 50/50 fight, I thought Smith would be much too much for his opponent, and Williams, would be maybe just a level below, but that turned out to be somewhat a faulty prediction. Liam Williams has done very well to become as goid he is after being told he would never box again due to a major hnd injury, and I'm very surprised and obviously impressed as we all are, that he was able to compete with Liam Smith like he was, some could even argue that this should not have gone down as a TKO, due to the cut, of course, Smith was coming on strong, he knew he had to pull it out the bag in the late rounds, being behind on all the scorecards (mine too, but I had it wider than they did),we don't know what would have happened in the last 2-3 rounds. I wouldn't be surprised if Williams became the favourite to win the rematch, but I believe Smith will come out on top, and put closure on this rivalry, securing a decisive finish this time, stoppage, or decision, one thing is for sure, and that is that the rematch is a great idea, because there is unfinished business between Liam Smith and Liam Williams. I hear the winner of the rematch will fight the WBO title, very interesting, I'm sure Smith would relish the opportunity to win back the belt he lost to Canelo Alvarez in that one sided but competitive, back and fourth 8-9 round round dogfight, and get another big opportunity like the one he made the most of last year, I think he is more than capable, but he has to come through Liam Williams first, and that is no easy task, Williams is not to be written off. I think although they seem to be in line for the WBO belt, Williams and Smith would really fancy their chances of winning the IBF title, against Jarrett Hurd, and I think they both have high chances of winning that fight should it be made in the future, especially Smith.
