Prediction,

This is a good test for Lewis Ritson, and a good opportunity for Scott Cardle.

I think Ritson is very good, he made a big statement in his last fight, stopping Joe Murray in a round, and he has some decent wins at British level, Robbie Barrett I think is his really notable victory aside from the Murray win. Given that Barrett defeated Cardle, and Scott Cardle has never achieved above this level, this isn't a step up in class for Ritson as such, but it should be a challenge, and it is good to stay active, and keep fighting good opponents, build up through the levels gradually.

Scott Cardle has always been a good fighter, he's had his ups and downs, there was the controversial draw against Sean Dodd, and the Barrett loss of course, but being a British champion would be nothing new to him, he has some good wins himself. I think Cardle will be very confident of victory, he wasn't by any means outclassed by Barrett, and Cardle is an experienced British level fighter, and that's good, as the underdog, his confidence, positive mentally only brings more to the fight. I think how well Cardle does might depend on just how much he wants to win, this would be the best victory of his career so far.

We shouldn't get carried away, talk about Ritson as if he is the new Lomachenko, he hasn't proven himself beyond British level, at the same time, let's give him a chance, there is no reason to doubt he is a talented fighter with a lot of potential, how good a fighter will he be?, only time will tell. We saw Ritson stop Barrett, that was great, can he repeat that against another opponent of that level?, that's the question he can answer in this fight. Cardle is awkward, he moves well, he's quick, so Ritson faces a bit of a test in this fight.

I think this fight will be competitive for a few rounds, but as the rounds go by, it will go more and more Ritson's way. I think Cardle will have early success, but I think he is against a fighter with potential on another level, a puncher, a fighter who is out to make a statement, and a fighter who might want the win slightly more than he does.

I think Ritson stops Cardle in 9 rounds.
