Ernesto Marcel boxed beautifully and completely outclassed Shibata. At times in the later round, Marcel landed punch after punch with vicious intentions but the scrappy Champion who was described by some as having a 'glass jaw' survived to hear the final bell and was gifted a draw.

Another good fight sullied by an atrocious decision, Marcel was essentially robbed in broad daylight. Whoever said Chavez-Whitaker is the worst robbery in modern history needs to take a good look at this fight, because this fight is a top contender for the worst robbery in modern history but people have never heard of it because it took place 46 years ago in Japan.
