Prediction,

Good match up.

Tanaka is good, he got a good win in his last fight, beat Sho Kimura for the title, he is 12-0 now, still learning and improving.

Taguchi is good, was a world champion at 108 from 2014-18, unified in 2017, he lost an upset to Hekkie Budler last year, a very close UD.

Taguchi comes off 10 months out, he is 32, and he is moving up in weight, so he won't be at his best in this fight, at 5'6, he is very tall for 112, but he has fought mostly at strawweight and light flyweight, he has had 2 fights at flyweight, but both were 8 round fights, and those fights were at least 5 years ago. Tanaka isn't experienced at 112, but he had that 12 round war against Kimura, great adaptation to the weight, so the weight aspect favours Tanaka.

These are both good fighters, but I think Tanaka is better, and I think because of the timing aspect, although it will be a competitive fight, Tanaka will win, and win well.

Taguchi has a good chin, if Tanaka could stop him, that would be a real statement, he has good power, Tanaka, but I think Taguchi is still resilient enough to stand up to his power. Taguchi is more experienced, that will probably be a factor in the middle rounds, if Tanaka makes a mistake, he will counter him, but with his limited power, he probably won't hurt him, and as the rounds go on, the older fighter will tire.

I think this will be a very high tempo fight, both will throw a phenomenal amount of punches, Tanaka will take the lead by out working and over powering Taguchi, Taguchi will win rounds, use his experience, but I think Tanaka will finish better, and will win a wide UD, maybe 117-111 on average.
