Prediction,

Good test for Shiro, great challenge for him.

Shiro is good, unbeaten, he's only 13-0, but in his last fight, it was some statement, agonising body shot the second round, destroyed Ganigan Lopez, who he only beat by MD the first time they fought, so Shiro, having clearly improved a lot. Shiro won close agaimst Lopez and Guevara, but he still defended his title, and in his last couple of fights, he has been impressive.

Melindo is good 37-3, former world champion, beat Hekkie Budler, Akira Yaegashi, was a good amateur, had about 500 fights. Melindo is a veteran, experience is something he has on his side, he has done 300 professional rounds, 40 fights, 6 world title fights, he is probably past his best now, 30, not young for a light flyweight, he has had a busy scehdule, but there is no reason to think he is too far past prime, no reason to think he is a shot fighter, he has never been stopped, there is only a record of him being dropped once in his career, he only has 3 losses, and although he lost his last fight, which was on the last day of 2017, lost his title against Taguchi, and it was quite wide, he did win 3-4 rounds, not bad. Melindo was very well beaten against Estrada, no shame there, and he went the distance, but he was dropped, lost most rounds, but against Taguchi, he was in the fight, he did have a bloody, dirty, very bad night against Mendoza, but Melindo won the IBF title, defended it, only to lose to Taguchi.

Shiro will learn a lot from this fight, he can't underestimate Melindo, age, damage works in his favour slightly, but Melindo might not be far past prime at all, and he is good. I think Shiro is a very talented fighter, I think he is very good, and he will beat Melindo, but it will be interesting to see how he beats him, interesting to see if he can make a statement. For Shiro, winning is the important thing, it takes a good fighter to beat Melindo, and it would be a good victory.

It would be an achievement if Shiro stopped Melindo, he can hurt his opponent, Shiro, not a big puncher, but has a fair amount of power, and his last win was a great finish, but I think this will go the distance, and Shiro will win a UD, 117-111/118-110.

Wow what a performance from Ken Shiro...this kid can be a p4p talent in boxing. Masterful display considering this is only his 14th fight and against this level of opposition

Matchroom's picture

Perfect performance against a real good opponent in Ken Shiro. Melindo cameback and had a real good 2nd round, but Shiro had already made the adjustments and dominated again from the 3rd until the finish.
