Prediction,

Brook hasn't fought in 9 months, longer than ideal, 154 is his weight, he's young enough thatbhe should have a bit left, but he isn't the fighter he used to be. I think definitely, Brook should be fighting a better opponent than this, might not be his fault, might not have been able to get a better fight than this, but still, he's has his momentum boost against Rabchenko, had his easy win, but he should be taking on a tougher opponent if he can now. Zerafa is 25-2, good record, he's a young fighter, but he lost a landslide to Magomedov, got knocked out in 5 rounds against Peter Quillin, and all his wins have come at Pan Pacific and Oceania level at the highest, I think at world level, he is poor.

Zerafa hasn't lost a fight at 154, so that does make the fight slightly more interesting, but at the same time, I don't think he has fought an opponent as good as Brook, Quillin is the only one on the same level as Brook in my opinion.

I think Zerafa will last some rounds, but he will be on a survival mission from about round 2, Brook's shots will get to him, he won't manage to hurt Brook, and he won't have the skill to outbox him. I think this will be similar to Brook's win over Frankie Gavin, he'll win every round, beat Zerafa up a bit, and stop him in 6.

Brook is staying active, fighting twice this year, which is good, but at 32, at this stage of his career, I don't see him beating Hurd, Charlo, I'm not sure if he was ever better than them, but I think definitely now, he can't win those fights, but still, he isn't necessarily undeserving of a shot, and if he can, he should just cash out and put all the desire he has into that one fight, because that's his only real good reason for not retiring, but of course, the Khan fight is still in talks, that fight might still happen, but Khan has to stop with the stupid, unreasonable demands, otherwise the fight will not happen.

Brook vs Khan, at a catchweight of 150 would be a good fight.

Champion97's picture

Poor from Brook, defensively terrible, mentally, seemed to struggle, and he got hurt twice there.

One thing Smith and Froch didn't mention was size, it was definitely a factor, Brook was stupid to work down to 150 when his opponent had come down from 160 to make 154, Brook is not a big light middleweight, otherwise he couldn't make 150. Brook is not an absolute top level puncher, but it is still a puncher, still hits quite hard, but he struggled to hurt Zerafa, because the bigger fighter was soaking it up more easily because of his size, in clinches, Zerafa was able to push Brook back.

Brook wasn't that bad, Zerafa had a size advantage, he came to fight, was very motivated, ans Brook still did well at times, but he is definitely not the fighter he was in 2014-16, and I think in terms of meaningful fights, the Khan fight is the best option for him because it's winnable, but Hurd, Charlo, Thurman, Spence again, Crawford, Porter again, I don't think he beats any of these guys, he can still make it a good fight against anyone though.
