Juan Manuel Marquez vs. Victor Polo
After turning down a career-high payday of $750,000 to face Manny Pacquiao in a February rematch, Juan Manuel Marquez lands on the undercard of the Lightweight Championship unification bout between Jose Luis Castillo and Diego Corrales when he defends his Featherweight titles against veteran contender Victor Polo. Marquez fights tactically until scoring a knockdown in the seventh round when he lands a straight right hand that forces Polo to catch himself with a glove on the canvas. The champion brings the fight in the final four rounds, hammering Polo for a unanimous decision and sending the challenger into retirement with another title defeat. |
