Prediction,

I think this is an awesome match up! I can't wait for this one, and on such a great bill! This is one of 3 fantastic super match ups, all on the same night, in the same ring, in the same, very competitive, exciting division, nights like this are great for boxing!

I think this will be a phenomenal, extremely fan friendly fight, 2 Mexicans with styles which will make it hard for them not to push each other and themselves to limit and go all out, and these 2 fighters are both in there absolute primes, their ages being 27, 29, they are both experienced, and both very young still, so this will make it an even better fight, with more stamina, more durability, an even higher tempo, an even more high action battle. Can't wait for this fight!

Juan Francisco Estrada is a great fighter, former world champion, I believe he has been in 7 world title fights (that may be wrong), having lost only to Pound for Pound star Roman Gonzalez, in a competitive, arguably close fight, and a fellow Mexican contender, solid fighters, Juan Carlos Sanchez Jr, Estrada has been victorious in most of his fights, he has won all 9 of his last 9 fights, 5 inside the distance, and in these 9 wins, he's defeated boxers such as Brian Viloria and Milan Melindo. This is a great match up for Estrada, he has been winning, and winning, since his loss to Gonzalez, he is at the point of his career in which he wants to be in high profile fights, and maybe a couple of challenging fights like this would bring him to be at his 100% full potential in a year or two, for now, this definitely a great fight for Estrada to be involved in.

Carlos Cuadras is a great fighter, unblemished bar his failed attempt to defeat Roman Gonzalez, a man who nobody had managed to have the beating of until March this year. Cuadras, I believe has been in 8 world title fights, he won the WBC belt against Srisaket Sor Rungvisai (the only man to defeat Roman Gonzalez, who he will face, in a highly anticipated rematch on this same night of boxing) via technical decision back in 2014, before defending the title 6 times, establishing himself as a world champion who can conquer many challengers in the division who try to dethrone him, before he tried to defend the title Gonzalez last year, a fight which he lost, but Gonzalez said the next day that he had just been in the hardest fight he had ever been in, and Cuadras, well he won rounds, boxed, fought fantastically, he was just beaten by the even better boxer, who at the time, was thought by many, to be the best boxer in the planet. Cuadras has fought once since his defeat to Gonzalez, that was on the undercard of Golovkin vs Jacobs, an undercard in which Gonzalez vs Rungvisai was also on, Cuadras secured a 10 round points victory, a unanimous decision over tough contender, David Carmona. Cuadras was understandably very disappointed after his defeat to Gonzalez, he believes he is underestimated, obviously, he wants a chance to show boxing fans, the fighters, and the media how good a boxer he is, and a tough fight against a fighter in similar shoes to him, it is just the kind of fight in which if he were to win, he would be proving a lot, so this the kind of fight he should be targeting, and the type of fight I'm sure he wants at this point in time.

I think Juan Francisco Estrada will win this one. I think this is going to be a very close one, I think either could have the better of the early rounds, either could have the better of the late rounds, either could well win this fight, but I'm, I'll say 53% on Estrada just edging it. I think after a 12 round war, both fighters having given it everything, it will go to the scorecards, and the scores will be 114-114, 115-113, 115-113, for the winner by majority decision, Juan Francisco Estrada.

Starting out with what might be the best fight of the night! I got Estrada in this one.

rorschach's picture

Gonna be hard to top this one.

albertocastany's picture

HAHHAHA man what a twisted ending....so heartbreaking for Cuadras

rorschach's picture

Very much so, but the right man won.

albertocastany's picture

I had Cuadras winning, but the fight could have one either way. the 115 division is TIGHT.

Champion97's picture

BS man, Estrada decisively won.

Champion97's picture

I can't believe people think Cuadras won this, you couldn't make a case he won!

Champion97's picture

Yeah, hilarious, a fighter's dream being crushed, you lowlife, you think that's funny, shows what kind of a scumbag you are.

rorschach's picture

It's most unfortunate Buffer made that mistake, I'm sure Cuadras is crushed and rightly so. However, he in no way shape or form won that fight.

Champion97's picture

Thanks! At least someone hasn't had their mind twisted by poor commentary! He did not win that fight, body language, reaction to the mistake, it says it all, Estrada won, your score is fair, but I don't think you could give Cuadras any more than that.

Champion97's picture

It is sad to see the influence which HBO'S inaccuracy and overrated unofficial scorer is having on American viewers, Estrada knew he won that fight!, he won by at least 3 points, I wouldn't argue with 7, harsh to give Cuadras any less than 3 I would say, but all the same, Juan Francisco Estrada won this fight!

Hbo announcers get worse with each passing fight. They are intolerable anymore

Champion97's picture

Cuadras did great, for periods of time, but he was not consistent, Estrada was, after 6 rounds, I thought there was nothing in it, Cuadras landing more, Estrada landing better. In rounds 7, 8, Estrada dominated, took over, it is as simple as that, he was boxing within himself at times, the power just flowed through to his gloves naturally, and Cuadras would exert effort into a shot, and Estrada would brush it off, besides Cuadras being badly hurt, out landed by a lot. Rounds 9 and 12 could have been Cuadras's, he out landed Estrada by first bit, and he landed some lovely shots himself in round 9, a round which I have him, but even that could have gone the other way, besides Estrada resuming his dominance in rounds 10 and 11 after that close 9th round. Cuadras won rounds 3 decisively, apart from that, it was close rounds, and defninite Estrada rounds.

rorschach's picture

I thought Estrada gave away the first 4 rounds, just not being active enough. Round 5 he started landing big shots and started taking over, it was still a close round but JFE won it thru round 8. I thought he took the 9th off, to load up for what happened in the 10th but in doing so gave Cuadras another round. And that's where CC won his last of the fight on my card. 1,2,3,4 & 9 Cuadras 115-112 Estrada.

Estrada almost got robbed, glad the judges saw it right
