I think Gamboa is fighting Sosa now.

Champion97's picture

Oh right yeah, thanks man.

I expect Sosa to win.

I'm pulling for Gamboa but I think Sosa is winning.

I Gamboa doesn't take a bad beating here, I can't believe he so nearly lost his last fight, getting stopped against Castellanos as well, Crawford has ruined him!

Yeah there's no way Sosa lost with 2 extra points in the bag. Gamboa should consider retiring but he won't because he won and he doesn't have a good financial situation.

I'm glad we have so many cards for this fight.

Hats off to Gamboa for pulling out the win, I didn't think he would.
It was such a close fight, good to see a disputed decision, I didn't like Don Trella's scorecard, but I don't mind the decision. It is one of those interesting fights which is hard to score, Sosa, the younger, more resilient fighter with the better preparation, the bigger puncher as well, Gamboa, the faster, more technically skilled fighter. With that pace, I thought Gamboa wouldn't go 4 rounds without fading noticeably, but he didn't really fade until after 8 rounds I didn't think, he could take rests, and consistently, Sosa couldn't really stop him, but Gamboa was so ragged late on, his shots lost accuracy, power, Sosa's guard was sturdy as well. The body work from Sosa was great, you could see they really knocked a lot out of Gamboa, the body attacks, and in the late rounds, Gamboa, drained, holding, trying to kill time, using his head, a lot, and really, to hold like that, and fight dirty, tactically, without use of intelligence, it wasn't smart, and in the end, the point deduction was not unreasonable.

I think the reason Fortuna was winning against him, and the reason why Lomachenko used his as target practice, is because of how he loads up with bolo shots, that's his style, but it really slows down his feet, I think that's why Gamboa could keep himself out of range for a fair amount time in this fight, and as well, Gamboa, able tos telegraph some of the shots from Sosa, I think judges are often impressed by that, and Sosa, although he could have won this one, in all honesty, you don't get credit on the scorecards for being able to soak up punishment, and bothering your opponent with one shot, when he, though hurt, is able to disallow you from following up your success, capitalising at all, and after a rest, back to work, and that's why he lost, for the duration of the rounds, often, Gamboa was throwing more, landing more, and to get away with fighting wih your face against a boxer as skilled and experienced as Gamboa, even on the wrong side of 35, you have inflict more damage than Sosa was able to, and you can't let the more technical fighter steal any late rounds, this wasn't a bad decision.

Man sosa was robbed, i dont use that word much but there was no way Gamboa should have won with that point deduction and the KD, it secured the fight for Sosa

I don't agree, but I do think Gamboa would have lost had it been 12 rounds.
