Prediction,

I like this match up, part of a great night of boxing in the 154 lb division.

I think Lara has always been slightly underrated, he boxed tremendously against Saul Alvarez, in some opinions, quite a few actually, even doing enough to win the fight, I personally, don't he did, but what an interesting fight that was, and he boxed extremely well in beating Paul Williams, Austin Trout by wide margins, or at least, legitimately, he was quite famously robbed with a scandalous majority decision defeat. Lara has done everything well since the Alvarez fight, he has been a world champion for a while now, looked good against Delvin Rodriguez, Vanes Martirosyan, Yuri Foreman, but at 34, I think Lara is going downhill.

Terrell Gausha is a good fighter from what I've heard, he's unbeaten, he's beaten some decent fighters, but he is untested, I don't think he has a great deal of experience, he's 20-0, certainly not a baby, he's 30, I believe he had a good amateur career, but he doesn't have the level of experience which Lara does, and I question how much potential he really has.

I think Lara will win this one, I think he will look slightly slower than he has in the past, I think he will tire towards the last couple of rounds, but I think he will win clearly, and wide as well. I think experience and power, will be the two main things separating these two fighters as Lara wins at least 4 of the first 6 rounds, I think Lara will be dominant in rounds 7-9. I think Lara will seemed to be out of gas at least to some degree in the last couple of rounds, and Terrell will push the fight in that late sessions, possibly earning credit know the scorecards, but not looking close to putting Lara on the floor or even finding much accuracy.

I think Lara will win a wide unanimous decision, 117-111, 117-111, 117-111, defending his title.

Im betting on a late round tko win for Lara

Could well happen, if Gausha doesn't take it on the chin so well, Lara has the power I think, I'm just not sure he has the style or the motivation to push for a stoppage against an opponent who isn't already going to go just from the punishing power shots Lara has landed to score points.

I think Lara will win this one, definitely, a big points win, he's mustard!

Unless Lara has aged overnight, this should be a wide UD for him. In my opinion, he has been a p4p top 10 level talent, but because of his poor matchmaking, he can't be ranked there. I just hope the rumor that Showtime will try to make a belt unification tournament for SWW is true so he will face the top competitors of the division.

Master class from Erislandy Lara, I wanted to give Gausha more rounds, because he made it physically tough for Lara, the Cuban was tiring, and he did land some good shots, but I couldn't really find validity in any more than 2 rounds for him. Gausha needed to drag Lara into deep waters, take him where he didn't want to be, he tried that, but Lara nullified him, Lara is a just a phenomenal boxer, he's got some exceptional skills, but I think now, he is on the slide, he is going downhill, he is part of the "who needs him?" club, but this will become less so as Lara declines, and let's not forget, he has a world title, fighters want titles, and I think had Gausha been fighting a 37 year old Lara, it may have been a different story, but Lara still had the physical ability to prevent Gausha from stopping him using his ring IQ to control the fight.

Yes, rounds were close, there wasn't a lot in them, but Julie Lederman, I mean, she's an idiot, she isn't a good judge, 5 rounds for Alexander against Porter, 8-4 for Chaves against Bradley, this, and there have been others, Gausha was throwing at times, but Lara was able to get himself out of position, Gausha never really landed with authority, desperation, yes, composure, method, control, never, Lara controlled the fight.

I think Lara is probably the weak link in the division, he is masterful, and in another division, it could be a different story, but it is so competitive, I think because of his age, and his vulnerabilities, he could become more of a target for other champions.
