Price was boxing well, but he rushed it, probably wasn't really hurting Thompson as he thought he was, and gave Thompson openings. I think when Price held his feet, maybe lost that respect for Thompson's ability to respond, he got punished, Thompson didn't hit with with a great, clean, devastating punch, he just caught Price cold, when he wasn't prepared to take one, with a decent, solid shot to the side of the head, he scrambled his senses, and although Price had the guts to get up from the knockdown, Steve Gray had no choice but to stop the fight.

Thomson was on drugs, he's a cheat, and that had to have been a factor, you could argue that this wasn't even a legitimate defeat for Price on that basis, but it is what it is, he still lost. Despite being on some sort of PED, Thompson didn't "get lucky" in there, he punished his opponent for a mistake, he knew it was coming, he waited for his opportunity, he took it, and stopped his opponent.

I was gutted for Price when he lost this, it was a big shock, he was considered a top heavyweight at that point.
