Cristian Mijares vs Katsushige Kawashima II
Mijares defeated Kawashima for the second time in just four months by trapping Kawashima in the corner, during the tenth round, and unloading a barrage of punches which forced Ortega to step in and wave it off. This was Mijares's first defense since being elevated to full champion status by the WBC after Masamori Tokuyama chose to vacate his title in order to move up to bantamweight. Mijares had won the interim version of the title, by way of a split decisionin their first meeting. After 9 rounds, the judges all had it for Mijares, close, fairly comfortable, and one sided. |
