What a fight!
Saucedo was really tested there, that was torrid.
Lopez is a tough, rough fighter, only 27, despite having a lot of losses, still having a winning record, and being a durable, competitive fighter, who was conditioned for a long, taxing fight, but talent wise, and in terms of defence, being a complete boxer, Lopez's 8 losses at his age suggest what we saw in this fight as the rounds progressed, he is limited, easy to catch clean when he lets you breathe, and because he is on the front foot all the time, everything he takes, he walks into, which really makes it impactful.
I think Saucedo's defence lacked in this fight, he seemed to be less mentally sound than Lopez early on, he got a bit sloppy, he seemed overwhelmed, but he became more mobile as the fight went on, the difference in potential began to show in round 4, as he punished a more fatuiged looking Lopez, and he had the grit to slug it out, at times, fight Lopez's fight, and in the end, the game plan, advice from Abel Sanchez was effective.
I think Lopez brought the best out of Saucedo, he made Saucedo prove he has the guts to have a real punch up, and not only that, but that he can turn the tables on an opponent like Lopez. That body shot in round 7 was sickening, it wasn't the first big shot to the body he had landed, it might not have been the hardest, but it was so accurate, it knocked the wind out of Lopez. With the enthusiasm, determination Lopez had even beyond 4 rounds, he wouldn't have stayed down for more than 4 seconds if that last shot wasn't killer.
