Prediction,

This isn't a bad match up, Stevenson, still champion, Fonfara, despite his lacklustre win against Ngumbu, and his first round knock out defeat to Joe Smith, he has impressed since giving Stevenson a very hard fight, winning 3, 4, or maybe even 5 rounds, dropping the champion. Fonfara impressed with that hard fought, back and fourth victory over Nathan Cleverly, and of course the dominant performance against Julio Cesar Chavez Jr.

I believe Fonfara is good, he still has a tough fight against Stevenson in him, but I don't believe he is the fighter he was in the first fight, and I believe despite his age, Stevenson is still fresh physically, and will be able to make great adjustments from the first fight.

I think Stevenson will win this fight, Fonfara isn't to be underestimated, he'll come to fight, he'll try 100% to knock Stevenson out, but I think Stevenson will out box Fonfara, hurt him, and dominate him, I think the stoppage will come in round 9.

I was just getting ready to ask you who you were picking tonight. I think Fonfara is gonna pull it out this time.

Champion97's picture

Yeah everyone is saying that, it's interesting, Fonfara can really show up, have a good day, but he can also under perform, I don't know about this time, I just think he's been in through it in his career, he'e been in some wars, I just think Stevenson can make the batetr adjustments, he's faster, he's more skilled, that's my prediction, but who knows, Fonfara could pull off the upset.

Ward vs Kovalev coming soon, I think Ward will dominate this time, he might stop him. You know most people don't see what we see, but the best UK analysts, the best analyst in the USA, they see what we see, Kovalev won a maximum of 5 rounds.

rorschach's picture

I scored Ward vs Kovalev 1 114-113 Ward myself. I could see Kovalev knocking Ward out early this time though.

Champion97's picture

I don't buy Kovalev's 'over training' excuse, and I think Kovalev is a fighter who can punch, when things are going his way, boy can he make them go his way, in a big way, when he dominates, he really dominates, but when things don't go his way, he isn't adaptable, he can't show that quality which greats like Leonard, Ali, Mayweather can show, and he comes apart, I mean, let's be honest, we're both knowledgeable on this, we saw it, that second half was all Ward. In my opinion, Ward being the better boxer, can make the better adjustments, he's bigger, stronger, more athletic, far, far better inside fighter, I think he's got this.

However, Kovalev, massive puncher, great when he can use distance, great jab, strong, well timed, he can box, he has skills, and Kovalev is one, nasty, nasty fighter, but no I definitely think Ward will box his head off, and I would love to see him stop him.

rorschach's picture

Agree Champ would love to see that.

Hey did you see my response to your post in the Pacquiao vs Ledwaba fight?

Champion97's picture

No, but I will read it.

This promo for Garcia vs Broner is getting me super pumped up for that fight!

rorschach's picture

Damn Champ I think you may be right lol.

rorschach's picture

Fonfara literally could not get out of the way of a single Stevenson left. Huge statement win for Stevenson!

Champion97's picture

My prediction would have been right, had I predicted that to happen 7 rounds earlier.

rorschach's picture

You said he would dominate and stop him and that he did. Jim Gray doing what he does putting Stevenson on the spot about his inactivity and not taking on better challengers. Stevenson's response "I'm the best at 175." "I'm the king baby." I'm Superman." When asked several times if he would remain active and who he would fight next. lol.

Champion97's picture

I certainly don't think he's better than Ward. Badou Jack should be a great addition to 175 don't you think?

rorschach's picture

Wow who knows what kind of difference Virgil Hunter made. One things for sure, he didn't improve Fonfara's defense.

Champion97's picture

Bellew vs Stevenson at 200!, who you got?

rorschach's picture

If Bellew can handle Stevenson's power at 200, I'd say Tony wears him down and stops him in 10.

Champion97's picture

Yeah I think so too, light heavyweight Bellew was an embarrassment to cruiserweight Bellew.
